Improving Juvenile Myositis Program UCSF Precision (I JuMP UP)

The Improving Juvenile Myositis Program UCSF Precision (I JuMP UP) Center of Excellence, was founded in 2022.  It is led by Dr. Susan Kim and Dr. Jessica Neely, who have decades long experience with JM care and research.

Juvenile Myositis (JM) and Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM) are rare autoimmune conditions of children that can cause severe muscle inflammation and rash. Our Center of Excellence aspires to improve the clinical care that children battling with JM receive in today.  Paired with our clinical care, we have an active and growing research program that includes clinical and translational research. We know that patient care that includes research is vital for us  to be able to improve future care, remission and cure for JM.

Mission Statement

The mission of our Center of Excellence for Juvenile Myositis is to deliver premier, comprehensive and compassionate care to all pediatric patients with Juvenile Myositis.  We seek to tailor the treatments for our patients based on the unique aspects of their medical and social condition and history, and strive to address the broader impact of JM on the overall physical and mental health.
